Where and how can artists ethically exist in the so-called art world? This zine was born out of a need to feel connection in the world, connection to other artists, in particular, those who are not interested in the “business-as-usual” mentality of commercial exploitation. This workbook invites artists across fields to think more deeply about their relationship to self and how the systems we live in and under form relational fractures, in ourselves and with others.
In this pocket-sized workbook, I offered questions intended for the reader to write, draw, collage, etc., responses to, questions that push against the myth of individualized artistic production and existence.
Some sample questions include:
Many of these questions were inspired by Dean Spade, Benji Hart, Dana Kopel, and leah lakshmi piepzna-samarasinha. I hope they help guide you to a more secure, more conscious, ready-to-resist center.
An edition of twenty zines were printed and sold at the Albuquerque Zine Fest in 2023.
